HEAD acoustics unveils new “PreSense” NVH simulator
- Experience NVH performance before the first physical prototype is available
- Efficient, virtual engineering and prototyping
HEAD acoustics has unveiled “PreSense”, the latest generation of its NVH simulator for comprehensive validation of sounds, noises and vibrations from vehicles and vehicle components in early development stages. This interactive, acoustic vehicle simulation system allows developers and decision-makers to experience the NVH performance of future vehicles even before all the individual components and assemblies can be physically combined. This cuts down on the major cost-drivers in the development process – namely development times, prototypes and real-life testing.
“PreSense can be seamlessly integrated in the existing development processes and environments,” says Dr. Aulis Telle, Managing Director Sound, Vibration and Perception at HEAD acoustics. “In combination with our Transfer Path Analysis Software, the NVH simulator combines simulation and test data, thus safeguarding important design decisions at any development stage.”
Experiencing NVH performance interactively
The simulated vehicle responds in real time to driver interactions such as gear selection, acceleration and braking. PreSense auralizes the resulting noises and vibrations from the drive system, tire / road surface and wind. During the simulation, users can virtually replace, add or modify engines, components and other sound sources and compare different scenarios with each other. These changes can be experienced instantly, thus ensuring a valid acoustic assessment. PreSense uses data measured in real-life scenarios, data from binaural transfer path analyses (TPA) as well as simulation data (CAE).
Comprehensive range of applications
Whether for definition of target sounds, for Engine Sound Enhancement and Active Sound Design or acoustic assessment of control strategies for hybrid vehicles: The NVH simulator is an important decision-making tool that resynthesizes the real-life driving and noise context, thus making it perceivable and experienceable. Direct comparisons of different vehicle configurations or the impact of different measures can be experienced without the need for additional prototypes. PreSense is available in a range of configuration levels, from a simple desktop simulator to a system that can be integrated in a dynamic vehicle simulator.
